How do I wear it?

Dial at its lowest on night one, an hour on the sofa. A few hours in the evening for the first week, then through the night. Move the dial up a step only once the last one stopped being noticeable.

What does it feel like?

Present, but it should never hurt. If it wakes you, turn it down a step.

Can I wear it in my shoes?

No, and be careful of anyone whose hinged brace says you can. Anything applying real sideways force cannot be walked on.

Is it safe?

Will this fix my bunion?

No. A bunion is a bone position, and a brace does not change bone. What it can do is hold the toe in a different position for a number of hours a night.

How long until I notice anything?

It varies, and most of what people report early is about pressure and ache rather than appearance. Anyone giving you a date is guessing — and we are not going to tell you the bump will be gone.

One foot or both?

One if only one foot bothers you. Both if the other is heading the same way — it is cheaper together than twice.

Is this for severe bunions?

Honestly, less so. If your big toe already crosses the second one, a podiatrist is the better next call.

Should I just have surgery?

That is between you and a podiatrist, and for some feet it is the right answer. Worth knowing first: across twenty studies and 2,914 people, the bunion returned in about a quarter of cases at an average follow-up of three and a half years (Ezzatvar et al., 2021).
